Director of Patient Services – Dawson Creek Hospital
Exciting career opportunity in spectacular northern B.C.

Wide blue skies and the rolling foothills of the Northern Rockies surround Dawson Creek. The town is also known as the Mile Zero City, as it marks the start of the Alaska Highway, a 2,400 km-long highway connecting Alaska and the Yukon to western Canada and the United States. Dawson Creek offers affordable housing and natural splendor that supports a balanced lifestyle, and presents a wealth of opportunities resulting from exceptional economic growth in the areas due to success in the oil, gas and coal industries.

Reporting to the Health Services Administrator, you will balance between operational planning and strategic objectives to provide clinical leadership for all acute care services in a progressive, 31-bed facility within the community of Dawson Creek. With a commitment to Northern Health’s core values, you will ensure the development, integration and provision of a broad range of acute care services that include medical/surgical, maternity, ICU, emergency and ambulatory as well as programs such as Northeast Orthopedic Trauma, Cancer Care and chronic disease management.

As a member of the senior management team, you will deliver programs and services that are comprehensive and suit the needs of the community. Fostering relationships with key stakeholders, you will encourage a level of understanding and co-operation that will strengthen and facilitate shared objectives across the health service delivery area.

Ideally, the successful candidate will be master’s prepared with a baccalaureate degree in Nursing. Your clinical background and expertise in various acute care program areas will support the value-based and service-driven corporate business plan. You have a highly developed ability to influence and inspire teams, successfully achieve operational goals, and balance multiple activities and priorities concurrently. By promoting learning, innovation and continuous improvement, you will ensure that professional development is fundamental to the nursing culture. Demonstrated clinical leadership as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be essential in this role. Eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia is required.
