Exciting Career Opportunities in the Spectacular Glory of Northern B.C.

From the rugged shores of the Queen Charlotte Islands in the west to the snow-capped peak of Mt. Robson in the east, Northern Health offers exciting opportunities to further your career as a healthcare professional. This vast region covers the northern two-thirds of B.C. Northern Health serves a regional population of approximately 300,000 people through 50 hospitals, health centres and complex care facilities as well as a full range of community programs. Northern Health communities offer affordable housing and natural splendor that support a balanced lifestyle.

Northern Health currently has opportunities in the following locations:

Quesnel (Project NH200606-DACSQ)

Quesnel, B.C. is one of Central Interior’s oldest cities, and home to the world’s largest gold pan. Nestled on the banks of the Fraser and Quesnel rivers, Quesnel is the commercial centre of the North Cariboo. The major industries include forestry, agriculture, mining and tourism.

Smithers (Project NH200606-DONS)

Smithers, B.C. is located in the picturesque Bulkley Valley, surrounded by three mountain ranges that provide a backdrop for the town’s alpine setting. The main industries include forestry, tourism, transportation and agriculture.

Terrace (Project NH200606-DONST)

The thriving community of Terrace, B.C. is northern living at its best. Snow-capped mountains and pristine, glacier-fed rivers, lakes and streams all add to the beauty of this community.  Anglers come to Terrace to challenge the steelhead and spring salmon of the Skeena River. The main industries in Terrace are communications, transportation and resource product trade.

The Position:

Reporting to the Health Services Administrator of the area, you will balance between operational planning and strategic objectives to provide effective nursing, rehab and discharge services for the assigned community sites. With a commitment to Northern Health’s core values, you will ensure the development, integration and provision of a broad range of acute care and facility-based services that aim to strengthen the community. Working collaboratively with the management team, you will deliver programs and services that are universal and comprehensive. Fostering relationships with key stakeholders, you will encourage a level of understanding and co-operation that will strengthen and facilitate shared objectives across the health service delivery area.

With a Baccalaureate degree in Nursing, and a clinical background and expertise with various program areas, you will support the value-based and service-driven corporate business plan. You have a highly developed ability to influence and inspire teams, submit strategic direction, and balance multiple activities and projects concurrently. By promoting learning, innovation and continuous improvement, you will ensure that professional development is fundamental to the nursing culture. Demonstrated clinical leadership as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be essential in these roles. Eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia is required.
