CAMP POTLATCH - JOB POSTING
CAMP NURSE ___________________________________________________________________ Camp Potlatch, located in the Howe Sound, is a wilderness based residential summer camp for children between the ages of 7 and 16. Camp Potlatch has been in operation for 60 years with the philosophy of providing quality summer experiences to children from low-income families. Camp Potlatch is residential work site that offers a supportive work environment and a smoke free community. All successful candidates will require a criminal record search and reference checks. EDUCATION This position is an excellent opportunity for nursing graduates to gain or enhance work experience with youth and in community health. QUALIFICATIONS By the position start date, applicants must hold a current license with the Registered Nurses Association of British Columbia and a current WCB Occupational First Aid Level III certificate (sponsored by employer). JOB DUTIES The selected candidate will act as the primary health care provider at Camp Potlatch. The Camp Nurse will be responsible for meeting the overall health needs of both staff and campers. These duties would include: promoting a healthy and safe environment, dispensing medications, tending to ill or injured participants, maintaining accurate and detailed documentation, communicating with parents, providing staff leadership and training, and providing direction and support to first aid attendants. POSITION - The position commitment is June 12th to September 1st, 2006. SALARY - Remuneration for the 12 week position includes transportation from Vancouver, meals, accommodation, a $760 OFA III certification, and a salary of $5,016.00 for the term.
