Senior Instructor or Instructor, Practical Nurse Program - Reference # NLC-972R
Salary Range: $43,200 to $68,820 per year
(Full-time ongoing, Grouard Campus)

Position Description

Position Summary

This position primarily involves administrative and supervisory duties, with instructional duties assigned as necessary. This front-line position is responsible for day-to-day decision-making, staff supervision, and overall management of the Practical Nurse Program in Grouard and the distributed delivery sites. The incumbent assumes responsibility for the following:

•Facilitating department communications and working as a member of the team
•Communicating and advocating staff and faculty needs and concerns
•Fostering teaching excellence through mentoring and support of programs, staff and faculty
•Co-ordinating program activities
•Instruction of courses

Position Responsibilities

Co-ordinate on and off-site activities.
•co-ordinate program schedules and distribution of materials
•organize sessional instructor confirmation letters, orientation and support
•provide guidance to college administrative support staff
•ensure course evaluations are completed
•ensure that appropriate forms are used for applications, withdrawals and registrations
•ensure that schedules and deadlines are followed
•maintain contact list
•prepare internal college documents and submit reports as requested
•participate in discussions on priorities for budget, personnel, equipment, supplies and resources
•serve as liaison between staff, faculty and director
•update program sections of calendar and program offering plans

Contribute to College.
•attend and participate in regular staff meetings, NLC general meetings, and other scheduled meetings as appropriate (e.g. Technology Integration Committee)
•respond to requests by Community Education Committees; treat members of these committees with respect and understanding and provide information they require to fulfil their mandate

Act as team member.
•work collaboratively with other staff and faculty on projects
•consult appropriately with supervisor
•be positive and non-confrontational in resolving issues and concerns
•treat colleagues with respect, empathy, understanding, and common courtesy

Assist in promoting College programs.
•project a positive image of the college
•maintain and encourage good public relations

•identify, plan and participate in promotional activities
•assist with the development of promotional materials and activities
•identify and share promotional ideas

-ensure security of personal student records (e.g. student files, grade records)
-keep student, staff and faculty personal information confidential
-act in accordance with FOIP regulations

•Act in accordance with NLC Mission Statement and Foundation Documents
-read foundation documents
-learn about the communities in the service region
-follow policies established by Northern Lakes College

•Participate in Professional Development
-participate in seminars, workshops and courses
-annually identify learning goals and provide evidence of progress toward achieving goals

Requirements:
•Current CARNA or CLPNA registration/Baccalaureate Degree, Master’s degree preferred.
•A minimum of 3 years related experience in adult education or health administration..
•Some travel.
